Today we participated in a Relay Education workshop all day!

Grade 5 Workshop Description

Concentrate on Conservation is a  curriculum-linked workshop, which focuses on energy conservation and renewable energy. Activities involve completing science experiments with miniature wind turbines, kinaesthetic learning activities and an interactive presentation that discusses energy conservation and renewable energy.

During the workshop, students test various blade configurations, learn about the transfer of energy and debate various perspectives on conserving or wasting energy in their everyday lives. While using the wind turbines, students will complete experiments that hone skills such as, data recording, calculating math problems and working in teams. The concepts of energy conservation and renewable energy meld together when students attempt to power different light bulbs with their turbines.
