Tuesday, December 17th 2019 - 3

- Students participated in reading centers and attended music.
- Our S4 came to visit our classroom for a health lesson about peer pressure. Ask me what I learned!
- Students continued to listen to the City of Ember (Chapter 17/18). We will be completing the next chapters during the morning of Wednesday and Thursday.
- While some students completed their Social Studies projects, other spent time applying social skills while playing games with peers.

No posts on Wednesday and Thursday as we will be at COP for the day!

Monday, December 16th 2019 - 2

- In Social Studies, students finished their presentations and recorded a video of their work. Students who are not done will finish tomorrow.
- In Science, students worked on their design and construction.
- In ELA, we continued to read the City of Ember. (Chapter 15-16)
- Students participated in physical education and reading centers.


Homework:
- Bring in library books. (Students received a note of what was late).
- Prepare yourself for skiing and snowboarding.
- Start bring home items from school (ei. water bottles to be cleaned etc.)

Friday, December 13th 2019 - Day 0

- Students continued to put the final touches and edits to their Social Studies presentation based on feedback provided by their teacher.
- Students attend the caroling assembly and read with their readings buddies.
- In addition, students participated in centers.

Tuesday, Dec. 10th 2019


- In Mathematics, students reviewed and practice how to identify and write in a sentence about an alternating pattern. Then students continued to work on our 2-dimensional shape challenges. Students are asked to prove their work. This has been a challenge for many students. Ask me how I am doing?
- In Social Studies, students conferenced with their teacher and continued to complete their final project.
- We read in ELA, completed centers, went to Physical Education and Music.

Monday, Dec 9th 2019

- Students participated in Physical Education and centers.
- In Science, students finished building their solar powered cars. Then reflected upon their strengths and areas of growth as designers and team mates. Students who were completed, worked on their plans and design for their house.
- In Mathematics, students reviewed how to identify a pattern using symbolic representations. Students then began using growing shapes and a table to identify a pattern.



Homework: 
- Bring all books back by Dec. 11th 2019 to Mme N in the learning commons. 
- Prepare yourself for two days of snowboard and skiing. Prepare your materials. Ensure they are warm and comfortable for the day.

- In Mathematics, we began reviewing simple growing patterns with numbers and shapes.
- Students participated in reading centers and Choice and Curiosity.
- In ELA, we listened to chapter 11 and part of 12 of the City of Ember. Students responded to a comprehension questions.

Wednesday, December 4th 2019 - Day 2

- In Mathematics, students reviewed our vocabulary with geometry. Students played a matching game. Then students were introduced to a "low floor/high ceiling" activity.

Definition: Low Floor High Ceiling Tasks are those that all students can access but that can be extended to high levels. ... Low Threshold High Ceiling Tasks are activities that everyone in a group can begin and then work on at their own level of engagement. 

- In Science, students continued to work and develop their solar panel cars. Students reflected upon the work they completed. 
- Students participated in Physical Education and reading centers. 
- Students continued to work identifying the subject, verb and participe passe in a paragraph.

Tuesday, December 3rd 2019 - 1 

- Students participated in reading centers and physical education. 
- In Mathematics, students created videos to describe the types of lines and identify the shapes they created in their art work from yesterday. 
- In Social Studies, students continued to work on their presentations. Teams are currently meeting one-on-one with their teacher to discuss progress, success and next steps. 
- In Science, students collaborated with their peers to design and create their own motorized vehicles using solar panels. Ask me about the work in Science!

Monday, November 3rd 2019 - Day 6

- In Mathematics, students completed multiplication questions after our Number Talk. Students spent the time demonstrating their preferred strategies when multiplying a 2 digit factor by 1 digit. Students then reviewed their quiz from last week. Students then created art using the concept of lines and quadrilaterals we studied last week.
- Students participated in reading centers, ELA, Social Studies and grammar.
- In Science, students review how to build and draw a simple circuit. This time they included a motor.


Homework: 20 minutes
- Reading in French. We are currently focusing our attention on describing events or interactions in our story. Students are to read for 15 minutes and spend 5 minutes working on a description of an event in the story.
